Oasis
Community
Church
supports Compass Point Community Church in the Soshanguve Township of Pretoria,
South Africa.
Only about
5 of 160 people in the church are employed, and many
are involved with HIV/AIDS work and see the pandemic each day
within their community and families.
At the
end of 2007 and 2008,
Oasis Community
Church sent donations
to support 30 families within the church community.

About
the Church |
|
At first glance, Compass
Point Community Church would have little to offer its community.
Of its 150 members, only 4 have permanent jobs. The pastor
and staff are all volunteers. They recently put up a metal
building for their services (previously, the church held
services in a tent) and are looking into the electric and water
supply.
The fact that the
congregation has so
little has not kept them from making a huge different in
Soshanguwe
Township. Six
trained volunteers provide home-based care (bathing patients,
cooking food, cleaning, etc.) for 45 families affected by
HIV/AIDS. The church also operates a soup kitchen each
Saturday morning.
Location:
Block NN in Soshanguve / Winterveldt, Gauteng
North, RSA.
Leadership:
Hosiah
Dlamini (Senior Pastor)
Constance
Dlamini (Pastor / HIV/Aids Program Manager)
Vusi
Thuphuthela (Youth Pastor)

Our Donations |
|
At
the year end giving service in December, 2006, Oasis donated
$3600 (USD), which converts to 24,300 Rand in
South Africa.
Every $345 provides home based
care for one family affected by HIV
/ AIDS (about 5 people)
for approximately 1 year.
The money mainly goes towards food and school uniforms.
Our goal for 2008
was
to support 25
families, and we exceeded that amount! During our call for
year end giving at the end of 2007 - the Oasis Church family
gave $10,300. With the current strength of the Canadian
dollar - we will support approximately
30 families!
2009 - Total Donations from the Oasis Church
family: $21,495 (Canadian) which will support over 30 families
this year!
2010 - Total Donations from the Oasis Church
family: $32,861 (Canadian) which will support about 50 families
this year! Thank-you for your generous giving!
2011 UPDATE
Total Donations from the Oasis Church
family: $34,000 (Canadian) which will support over 50 families
this year! Thank-you for your generous giving!
Prayerfully consider giving to this
worthy cause during our next call for year end giving.
